A dowel is a piece of wood you can get from a home depot type of place. They usually come in varying lengths and are round, like a cylinder. We use them as guides for impact positions and plane stuff. The advantage is they are small, light, and you can have them run up your arms instead of just ending in your hands.

if you go to the home page and look at some of the picturs of Yoda you'll see him using the dowels
