I do think there's a difference between 'personal preference' and 'feeling comfortable.' Forgetting about the adjusted address and stuff for a second, I've seen many golfers junk tweaks to the components of the swing simply because they don't feel comfortable with it right away and then state that it was 'personal preference.'
I think you need to give any adjustment a legit chance.
Agreed, 3Jack. And knowing that the Component under consideration is a valid Variation gives one the confidence to pursue it until an informed decision can be made.
I think that there are a lot of hitters starting from Adjusted out there. Didnt Yoda suggest Brain Gay and Larry Nelson as examples? I might be wrong. Yoda himself does this too when hitting I think. He loves a Lagging Takeaway.
Dont think there's a "major pitfall", maybe not quite as simple a procedure. You have to apply Extensor Action, allow the for the flattening of the left wrist, bending of the right etc in Startup. I guess one of the advantages is the Lagging Takeaway. The Swing Back that Bucket mentioned. It does feel great and the CF does a lot of the work. Like hitting an impact bag on the way back and another one on the way down, you Lag in both directions.
Homer specified 10-9-A , Standard Address for both 12-1 Drive Loading and 12-2 Drag Loading. I wonder why though? Why not starting in Fix for 12-1? Anyone got any thoughts?
I should correct my statement above about Larry Nelson and Brian Gay being Hitters from adjusted. They are not. I had misinterpreted a story Lynn relayed in which they discussed the merits of a bent left arm at address to mean adjusted address, a bent left wrist. That was incorrect on my part. Brian starts from Fix but with a slightly bent left arm. Something he and Larry Nelson discussed at length one afternoon at Lynns club.
