I've not talked to John since the night before the first round, but my guess is he's withdrawn.
The starting field was 170, including 132 Second Stage qualifiers, 34 Exempt players and 4 Nationwide Top 25 players. Today's scores were returned for 169 players.
John opened with 75 (+3) and shot 80 (+8 ) yesterday. He's been dealing with significant physical issues the past few months, and my guess is he let it go at that.
John Riegger completed the second round despite severe neck and shoulder pain, and then, as we know, withdrew.
He is now recovering from shoulder surgery performed yesterday in his hometown of Las Vegas. All indications are that the surgery was successful and that he will be able to return to action free of pain and with full mobility on the Nationwide Tour next season.
Best of luck, John, for a swift recovery and rehabilitation.
Man, life isn't fair. What a time for problems like that to happen!
The great news, playing pain free next summer, sounds like for the first time in a while, you may have the season of your career next summer. We are all pulling for you John. Get well fast!!!
Kevin
