Sometimes there are laser keychains on ebay. They are the same units as the GTA lasers without the shaft mount, but a key ring(chop it off). They cost a few bucks plus shipping. If you buy 5 or 6, the shipping is combined. extra batteries.

With some small pieces of duct tape and the small lasers, You can not only check the shaft.... but forearm, PP alignments... the angle of your FWs... think your head is stationary? tuck (not tape) one behind your ear .....

They are a panic to work with.

I bought a laser keychain a few months ago to practice tracing the plane line. Surprisingly, this was at a Petco store.

Good post!!!!!! Hadn't thought of the duct tape idea. U-da-man! With the forearm alignment, what are you checking? that the laser taped to the forearm is on the shaft (shaft and forearm on plane-Flying Wedge) or are you tracing the plane line with the forearm?

thanks!

I just had to come up with something. I'm DIYing with the generous information from you guys here and a kickstart from Yoda last spring. For me, there are "positions" during the swing, but all positions are a result of proper "alignments".

I fooled myself a few times with visual perceptions and also the two dimensional video camera. The lasers were the only thing that could give me all 3 dimensions and could track different body areas.

I know this is nuts, but I had extended negotiations with the wife, and I have a "library" of pinstripes on our screened porch that respresent everything from the Plane Base Line to where laser points should be from my right forearm and left arm if my Flying Wedges are correct at Top. They track from one specific spot on the porch with a five iron in my hands. My laboratory.

I'm sorry, I go on.... To answer your question, the basic setup is a laser taped to the shaft pointing just ahead of the sweetspot. Another on the back of the left wrist. On my right forearm I use an equivalent for the PP#1 trace with one on the thumb side of my wrist. Minimally, these tell me if the FWs get misaligned during the swing. They were very helpful when I had to reconcile the forearm trace, the RFP, and a full loading of the right elbow without fouling the FWs on the way to proper alignment at the Top.

You can also use the lasers for other body areas. Depending how you position one on your right shoulder, you can determine absolute position (I have a tendency to get out of sync between my arms/hands and upper torso) or the plane the shoulder is on.

Well, it keeps me off of the streets...

Don't you love G.O.L.F.!

So far in my quest for precision golf I've sliced open our couch with an iron; dented a doorframe with driver, destroyed my lawn with a series of VJ like divot lines, smashed the lunch box of my daughter's 7-year old friend, broken my parents in law chandelier light fitting (twice!!!!!!!), caused a lady walking her dog to dive roll when I shanked a shot (she came around a corner - I'm usually very careful about these things, especially now!) and put a divot in my ceiling. I wont go into this last one, except to say that it's really good feedback that your alignments are off when you gouge a chunk out of the roof.

Probably best if we don't go into that!

Not only was Martin on The Golf Channel, he is in the December 2005 issue of Golf Magazine, page 73. He is discussing your grip.
I also met him at The St. Augustine class. Nice fellow. Good sense of humor.

All good people credit their sources(this gives them even more credibility), but in this case Hall would never get another spot on TV if he did, maybee he can slip it in another time. The click group would feel threatened by TGM Martino, McClean, Leadbetter etc.

Chris,
You are truly a golf nut. That was one of the funniest things I've ever read. Keep tearing things up..the more you struggle, the better you'll get. I used to do the same.
4Barrels,
You are right again. The Golf Disgust crew will always be intimidated by TGM. Let's keep sneaking up on them. Then we'll storm the castle and save Golfdom from the evil trolls.
