It seems that a lot golf experts were giving Sergio grief because of the massive accumulator lag in his old swing. (and his current one to a lesser extent) despite his accuracy and distance. These are the same people that applaud the lag swing of Ben Hogan. Why the double standard?
Ive been tring to incorporate TGM allignments into my Bertholy training, and I was wondering is it possible for a 15 handicap to actually groove too much accumulator lag into my swing?
Ed, thats kinda what I thought. I was just watching the Brian Gay footage and he doesnt appear to have a real acute angle between the shaft and his left arm, I wonder if his more of a hitting stroke?

No. He is a Swinger. Although not as much accumulator lag as Sergio or Hogan . . . the left wrist is loaded and THROWN OUT. Not driven out.
Really isolate your left wrist motion without a club. Clench your fist and cock it up in the plane of your left arm. There's not a lot of motion there. The only way to get more is to cock and bend which gets the shaft out of line with the arm and thus destroys the alignment of the left arm flying wedge.
There is WAY more power in alignments than double cocking the wrist.
The Flat Left Wrist has its basis in the Law of the Flail. It is not a HOLD ON thing. It is a dynamic thing. It's a hammering motion. Get out your club and hold it left hand only just outside your left foot. Now hammer the crap out of the ground. THAT IS A FLAT LEFT WRIST. Experiment with this. Drag it down and let it SLING OUT into the ground. That's your motion. The Flail is the flat left wrist. So if your grip is turned your left wrist will cock AND BEND to hammer the ground.
When you make this hammering motion you have Accumulator Lag . . . but you ain't trying to get it. It happens as a result of the inertia of the club being drug down plane.
Only difference between this and your golf swing is the plane that it occurs on. Hammering is a verical plane. Golf is an angled plane. So all you are doing is hammering on an inclined plane.
This is really good stuff, I appreciate your detailed explaination and will work on the lag pressure a little more. I am a left hand swinger at present, but have dabbled in Tommy's right hand swing as well. Hell Ive tried everything and am working on the Bertholy stuff now (left side swing)
Can you direct me to any video's that could help me to obtain lag pressure?
The Doyle vids maybe? Again thanks for your time...

Not sure about any videos . . . there are probably some that would be good for you in the Gallery here.
I'd say do a couple of things . . .
Do a search on the Yoda's Secret drill.
Try to hit balls gripping the club with your right forefinger and thumb extended. It would look kind of like you are making a that pistol you used to shoot when you were a kid. So basically the only part of the right pointer finger that is touching the club is the first fleshy pad (pp3). You will sense lag pressure doing this.
Also get out your video camera assuming you have one . . . make sure that you are not "flipping" or round housing or steering.
When you hit balls you REALLY need to focus your attention on your hands and NOT THE CLUBHEAD. This is harder to do than it would seem. Try making swings and hitting chips with your eyes closed.

A few thangs to think about as you progress down the Accumulator Lag road . . .
1. Clubhead Lag PRESSURE is more important than Accumlator Lag. But Accumlator Lag CAN lead to Lag Pressure.
2. Remember Accumlators are RELEASED (but Lag Pressure has NO RELEASE POINT). The problem I ran into when I was enamoured with Accumulator Lag is I NEVER LET THE ACCUMULATORS RELEASE AND THE CLUB THROWOUT. If you just think that having a huge amount of #2 lag and Trigger Delay is going to make you hit it great doesn't always work unless you Unload what you have Loaded. I just thought holding my left wrist cocked for ever would do the trick . . . nope just got me steep and off plane and double cocked and cocked right wrist.
3. Watch the motion of a Trevino as compared to Sergio. Trevino has less Wrist Cock (#2) than Sergio . . . BUT his clubshaft LOADS as much and the #2 angle increases as a result of his dynamic Pivot loading the wrists and accumulators further. If you "set" your wrist too early in the backstroke all you can do is just "HOLD ON" to what you got in the downstroke. On the other hand if you have less set in the backstroke you have more to Load on the downstroke.
4. Another key is paying particular attention to the AMOUNT you load the pressure points. In effort to increase your accumulator lag you may be "over" loading and over accelerating. Remember "overacceleration is the menance that stalks all lag and drag." So experiment with different amounts of lag pressure. And remember lag pressure is measured in OUNCES not POUNDS. So your hands are delivering a subtle message to you. Tune in.
In summary I'd say as a 15 you are probably better off focusing your attention on Lag Pressure sensed in your Pressure Points and focusing on Rhythm. If you are a Swinger, once the club passes your hands . . . you can't pull it no more. I think it was Tomasello that said "You hit the ball with your hands, but you don't HIT AT the ball with your hands." I think if you place your focus on sensing Lag Pressure and obtaining Rhythm you'll achieve the amount of Accumulator Lag that is correct for your stroke.
