MIT Certified?
Lynn,

It's been mentioned on various forums that MIT did a study on TGM and found that it was correct basically.

...

Could you go over this MIT deal? The topic has come up and I need to get my facts straight.

They just decided to do a study on it?

Chuck has mentioned this many a time. When I asked TGM HQ about it the reply I got was "the paperwork is in a box somewhere and its not imporant enough to go did it out." Hard to give facts when they are not available.

Sorry, Birdie. My only information on this is hearsay. My understanding is that the book was sent to MIT and one other university by Gary Wiren, then head of Instruction for the PGA, for a fact check. The 'word' is that no errors were found. I'm sure the documentation is in the files Joe Daniels now owns. When the rights to TGM were sold, he got all of Homer's originating material. What a treasure.

So, the information is there, but unless Joe chooses to share it, we will never know.

I find this to be rather disappointing. "It's not worth digging up." It seems to me if an institution such as MIT was willing to give feedback on a work that all the GSED's should be made aware of it, and changes should be made accordingly (if necessary). In my opinion, Joe Daniels has really dropped the ball on this one.

It does seem to be a mystery that along with the pages Homer did on 'In Search of the Perfect Swing'.

I had previously asked but got no response.

Maybe if more asked it would be made available..
