My best golf is when I feel very loose and relaxed and as though I barely holding onto the club....a feeling that seems diametrically opposed to the grip pressure I am applying now with TGM...perhaps that is why I have gone from a good driver of the ball to a horrible one on the course trying to apply my untrained hands to TGM principles.

Hi track! Great to see your ambition in getting better! I am the same way - I want a laid out 'plan'!!! Tell me if I do plyometrics for 2 months and I can dunk - well, plyometrics it is!!!
Forgive me, but I do not recall Homer referencing grip pressure other then a passing notice in 7-1 (it may be in the book, but I dont recall). My
opinion is that grip pressure should only be sufficient enough to control the clubhead - meaning, no letting go of the club, no twisting due to centrifugal force, etc. Now...this
may mean that your current grip pressure is greater then it was previous. Keep in mind - 'grip pressure' is subjective to the person employing it. Alot for you might be a little for me. If you feel its too much - don't be afraid to back off some. Just a suggestion.

I have my dowels and started working on positions and the mirror work. My last trip to the course was a disaster as I tried to apply TGM principles without the necessary dowel work and short game repetitions.

Hmmm...maybe thats a good thing? Homer loved to see his students hit it worse then they had when they came in. Why? Because, he knew that they were employing the principles he was teaching and that their timing was off. So...perhaps your journey is moving forward.....

My question ....Is there any doubt among TGM instructors that armed with knowledge of the site and the book and given the game plan...will I be able to make the transition so I can seriously alter the swing? I sure as heck don't want to spend all the time and end up taking a video next spring that looks exactly like the last one I took.

Well...thats alot of practice. Just keep in kind - its not the quantity of balls hit, but the quality. Perfect practice makes perfect. You main goal, in my opinion, should be in employing the principles - always focus on the hands - not the amount of balls. Too much attention to the amount of repitions, at least for me, has led to sloppy execution.
Disasterous because if I am sloppy and make a 1000 repitions...guess what I just ingrained? Yep...a sloppy swing. Just stay focused! That being said...of course, perfect execution for 1000 swings will be better then 10 swings.
Good stuff! I love the...excitement, anticipation of breaking through a plateau through practice!
