Good question,
DG.
The Pivot -- specifically the
Right Shoulder Turn in Start Down (as led by Hip Action in Full Pivot Strokes) -- overcomes and reverses the Clubhead's Angular Inertia (Clubhead Lag). It drives the Left Arm and provides the
initial Acceleration of the Downstroke.
Then, per the Centrifugal Release Sequence of 6-M-1 (Body Momentum Transfer producing Centrifugal Throw-Out Action), the
Wrist Throw finishes the job.
