Combo exercises are the best option so that you not only work muscles in tandom but you also get a faster workout and quicker to fail. In other words, there is no need to isolate muscles during a workout unless you are a body builder, and even then compound workouts are great as well. For example, pull-downs not only work your shoulders but also your triceps and biceps as well and you get a well-rounded muscle definition. And don't forget to work out the rotator cuff group of shoulder muscles.
