The one thing Homer Kelley said is that all strokes should feel, "Deliberate, Positive and Heavy". While at the range, I can often start to get quick after hitting a few hundred balls....sometimes, I need to take a step away from the ball pile, and just think of what Homer said, "Deliberate, Positive and Heavy". You almost have to say it slow...I try to translate the words into my swing....remember, the goal is to have continuing acceleration of the hands from the top...err constant acceleration. I know if I start to try and 'kill' the ball, I start to get throwaway!
Remember this, whatever speed you start your hands at the start of the downswing should continue to impact, follow-through and the finish. Don't try to add all the acceleration right from the top!
