There are no 'rules' for this one, 8cork: Experimentation is the only way. As an example, let me relate a story Larry Nelson once told me...
Years ago, when he was first getting started in the Game, he was playing at Indian Hills C.C. in Marietta, Georgia. He came to a medium-length Par 3 and Pull-Hooked his Tee Shot. It surprised him, because he rarely hit such Shots, even in those early days. He decided to figure out what he could do so it would never happen again.
After the round, he went to the practice tee with one express purpose: To see
how far left he could aim... and still not have the Ball
go left! In other (TGM) words, how Open could he align his Body and still Trace a Square Plane Line? As he experimented, he got more and more and more Open. When he finally found that limit, he came back to a 'middle ground', from which he plays to this day.
Sometimes, 8cork, in Golf as in life, the answer lies within.
