Homerson,

I would encourage you to go back and read all of the posts under the "Lob shots" thread. I read through it and feel like I could not reword it any more effectively. Bear in mind that it was a discussion on just one type of shot and ONE of my preferential procedures (there are many others). Additionally, there are myriad options for playing all of the short game shots and the combinations and permutations comprising different patterns are seemingly endless. In so far as to learning these shots, go to a short game practice area and experiment, experiment, experiment.
One factor that doesn't get much attention here lies in the realm of equipment. Proper equipment is HUGE!!!! You cannot play shots utilizing throwaway if the bounce angle on your wedge is so large that proper turf engagement is thwarted. You want a SW and lob wedge that you can crisply strike shots off of firm surfaces. An area indoors that has really tightly woven carpet with no padding is a wonderful place for putting wedges through their paces (I confess to having hit thousands of clubhouse shots over my career!).
Perhaps this is of some help, it would be a pretty exhaustive task to address all that is involved in shot game procedures via the written word.
