lag and acc # 4
Evening all,Im getting frustrated ,Im trying very hard to get the feeling of lag in my swing, also having problems with getting consistancy with driver and long irons, not to mention understanding TGM book, lol,I practice every day with short shots etc,I use basic drills by hitting through two trees that are close together to a pin,luv it.works very well, but when I get to d/swing with longer clubs it all goes pearshaped,I do have a couple of questions if I may,
1...how essential is the acc #4 for hitters
2...would this assist my search for lag
3...do you have any drills for downswing
thank you in advance

1...how essential is the acc #4 for hitters? It is a four barrel stroke (4, 1,2,3) for Hitters. This allows the pivot via the right shoulder thrust to start the acceleration of the Down Stroke. Without acc4, the Hit Stroke acceleration is all acc1. Acc count when they are actions. They all have motion in any golf stroke.
2...would this assist my search for lag? Yes and no. For a Hitter Lag is load against pp3 and is driven at start down by acc1 even if acc4 is first used. You want to make sure that pp3 is fully loaded and ready to be driven. Acc4 use will increase pivot Lag. Each componenet of the stroke should "Drag" its proceding componenet, ie/ bottom up. Acc4 will increase this swinger type drag but acc1- Drive Loading- is still the real power source for a Hitter.
3...do you have any drills for downswing. Sorry no, but what about the downswing are you trying to correct. "Start Down" waggles are great, 3-F-5.

Thanks 6bmike for quick reply,I suppose Im just looking for the proper downswing order of things that I can practice knowing that it the right procedure,I think it will give the confidence, otherwise I would just be instilling a fault.Thank you again for assist,as for the book, just got to read it until I can translate it to myself easier.

Please down load the entire Blake- Hull videos. In the fourth one (I think) is talk of the Start Dwon Waggle.
A Start Down Waggle can be a drill. It is a rehearsal of the Lag Loading Action from the Top of the Stroke. It can be part of your PRE-address routine for a while if you like when on the course.
The Start Down Waggle is the exact motion of the Right Shoulder moving Down Plane by the Hip Action. Don't let the right shoulder or Hands start by themselves.
Watch the Blake- Hull videos. They are pure G.O.L.D.

I think this is a good subject/question could we cover it for Swingers and Hitters?
I think #4 is huge as far as setting up the down plane orbit of the club too. But it is a difficult pressure point for me because it ain't in the hands.
Holla!

If your intent is to hit, AND you struggle with woods/long irons I wouldn't give Accum #4 a lot of consideration.
Ask yourself why you are having trouble tracing a straight plane line with the right forearm and PP#3. (Is it really that hard to trace a straight line?? Maybe factors are preventing this necessary act.)
Study the text and pictures of 8-1. Study 6-C and clubhead lag pressure. Go to the index and look up "roundhousing" or something like "clearing the right hip."
Go ahead and trace a straight plane line, and do not allow yourself to fail (just as you wouldn't allow yourself to miss your cup of coffee - you'd grab it every time - no matter if you had to stand up, reach behind you, stretch way out, etc). Compare your body motion to 8-1.

As a pressure point is merely contact of the left arm and shoulder. As an accumulator it is rotation of the body.
