Start-up, Backswing, Downswing, Release, Impact, have issues which stem from Zone 1. The most problematic issue is that he creates a swing pattern to compensate for the lack of good impact geometry. He ran out of right arm before impact because he lacks pivot lag. If you look at his shoulders and hips at his current impact geometry, that’s approximately where they belong during the start of release. Zone 1 virtually stops after Startdown. He hops onto his Left Leg and throws the Clubhead at the Ball and his experience allows him to fight the swing well enough to provide a good imitation. If his Zone 1 issues can be resolved, then most everything else will change to comply with his new impact geometry. Approximately frame #71 illustrates the Geometry of Impact of his Shoulders. Frame #74 his Hips but they’ve swayed 6 inches Left because he jumped to his Left Foot at Startdown. His Right Forearm misalignments illustrated from Frame #66 to Frame #69 should almost entirely self-correct as he acquires a straight line Deliver Path. Tell him to get his shoulders as in Frame #71 but Square to the Target and that's where they belong Impact. Adjust Hips more open and closer to Center. Teach impact fix alignments for Zone 1 not just Zone 2. Currently, if he's on an uphill lie with the Ball below his feet, I don't think I could watch. Thank you for the insights...we all agree there is something wrong lurking in his pivot...we will work on that aspect of his swing...however, I will have to tread lightly regarding the characterization of his swing as "imitation". The main reasons being that he is younger, bigger and faster than me but more importantly he plays to a 5 and gets incredible power and distance with his current motion. This dialogue is a great approach for me personally as I learn more about The Machine from all you experts....back to the Yellow Book for me as I review "pivot lag" , "straight line delivery path" and "Zone 1 alignments". Any other insights would be greatly appreciated. hg View Public Profile Send a private message to hg Find all posts by hg
