Trig,
I injured my right 5th finger about 2 years ago while trying to hit a ball out of heavy rough with my overlap grip--couldn't play for about 2 weeks with ANY grip. When I finally could swing, the only grip that worked was a 10 finger grip. Initially was pulling everything left because, I now know, I was a hitter with a semi-hit,semi-swing motion. Eventually got so used to it that I used it all last year and played relatively well. Then, visited The Swamp in March, and Yoda changed me to an overlap grip---which NOW feels natural to me. And judging by the 9 holes I played after work today, is quite successful. I remember Lynn mentioning something about the 10 finger grip ruining clubhead acceleration. I'll check the yellow book and see if I can come up with a page # for you. I do know that Bob Rosburg,Missie Berteotti(former LPGA),Bob Estes and some others do use a 10 finger grip---and they made money with it! I also remember someone telling me that folks with small hands may want to use it for better control of the club. I'm sure some of the pros that frequent this site can give you some better info. That's my 2 cents! Have a great golf season and thanks for all you do for this site. Dr. Dave
