My visit to Marietta
For some time now I have been reading about these miracles at Marietta. What impressed me was the acclaim and improvement achieved by low single digit hcprs. I thought if they can improve this group, maybe there is hope for this unaccomplished high hcpr (22). So I got in touch with Yoda and Yodasluke, and they said come on down. My story is I am 51, playing about 10 years, shoot in the mid 90s, and my main golf issue is lack of distance. I carry the ball about 160 and maybe 20yds of roll. I live in Long Island NY, and made arrangements for 1/2 day with Yoda, and 2 one/half days with Yodasluke.
First day: I met Yoda and Yodasluke for breakfast and get acquainted at the Cracker Barrell. Yoda persuaded me to try grits. I think he was trying to acclimate me to change. After a huge breakfast( these guys could win an eating contest), Ted left to set up the facility for my metamorphorsis, and Yoda explained the principles of TGM to me. They soon determined I would be a better swinger than hitter. Suprisingly, I can "hit" when I pitch the ball. After about 2 hrs. I was carrying my ball an extra 50 yds., and improved the quality of my shots markedly. After about 500 balls, I thought the day was over, then we worked on putting.
Second day: Yodasluke (TED) continues to improve my game, and and starts to introduce more change to get even longer. By the way Ted works with a long driving guy. Ted starts the process to ingrain the changes to get me even better.
Third day: Ted says lets work on the short game. He helps me make a HUGE improvement in that area. All of a sudden I am getting clusters of balls around different targets. Then we revisit and solidify all parts of my swing. Many posters have stated their huge improvements in their long game. I assure you they can markedly improve your short game. Finally Ted and I went to lunch, And he created a game plan for me to take home, to maintain and improve my golf in the long term.
Not only are the Yodas great teachers, they are fine people as well. I feel I not only improved my golf but I made two new friends.
One of great things that occured on this trip, is I met a fellow TGMer, Golfnuteric invited me to play a round, when he learned I was coming down to Marietta. We had a great day and lunch after the round. Eric is a great guy, and I enjoyed my round with him very much.

Brian,
Nice post. It truly IS worth the time to visit the Swamp. Now that the weather is easing up on us northerners you will find it even more exciting to hit the course. I think you will find yourself hitting shorter shots into the greens, putting better, hitting more fairways, etc. It takes continued time and effort, but the journey is fun. I suspect when the Testimonial section opens up there will be a huge crush of people posting. You are on your way to a great season----enjoy the ride. Dr Dave

As we say down South:
"Aw shucks...t'warn't nuthin!"
Seriously, Brian, you were a great student. You 'absorbed and applied' all our 'informing and explaing.' Thanks for your confidence in us and your willingness to do as we instructed. That's The Magic Combination, and I am delighted to have been part of it.
