Freedom is a brutally tough concept that some of my Jewish ancestors could not accept after slavery, and some people can never accept because it is the hardest and greatest gift in the world. Freedom requires maturity and self control, humor, patience, humility and kindness. Freedom requires interdependence which is trusting both yourself and others. Freedom transcends bumper sticker wisdom while appreciating the necessity of the odd almost meaningless phrase to express an emotion that has to be expressed for a person to feel better.
