While the only Imperative is that the Left Wrist be Flat at Impact, the Left (and Right) Wrist Conditions ideally are established much sooner. In fact, the application of
Extensor Action virtually assures this result during the
Start-Up. Hence, the inclusion of Item 16 (Start Up -- L/R Wrist Conditions) in the
Mechanical Checklist For All Strokes (12-3).
