How do I become a hitter?
What are the fundamentals?

So far, I have

Set up in impact fix

Right forearm takeaway using external rotation of the humerus (upper arm)

Create and sustain lag which is felt at PP1 and PP3

Drive down 4 inches ahead at aiming point

Maintain bent right wrist

finish swivel
I have not yet incorporated the finish swivel, more of a sawn off finish like Mickleson often plays with.

The question I would really like answered is how to hit it hard, I have developed a significant increase in consistency since starting TGM principles and using the PBS made by Jeff Evans.

Crawford,

You may want to direct your question to Ted Fort "Yodas Luke" he is the resident hitting coach....maybe post it in the emergency room for hitters,

good luck

Hi Crawford,

You have all good, but don't forget the hitter's dynamics also include two very important things:
  • a short backswing
  • a slooooooooow (you have no idea!) startdown

I also recommend that you practice hitting balls with your right arm only like Yodasluke is doing in a video: Start at impact fix, freeze your right wrist in position.
Very instructive - You will immediately understand the imperatives of the hitting stroke:
  • the right forearm must be on plane to correctly push behind the shaft
  • better start slow or you will throw the club away
  • better do a short backswing or you risk activating your right arm too soon and throw the club away.

Thanks Guys,

I appreciate your input. Jeff sent me a review paper also which I will spend tomorrow afternoon perusing.

I plan to report back but it looks awesome from an initial glance.

Hitting with right arm only

Aaahhh too bad Irish Maverick: this video was once free of charge but became a premium video here: http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/index.p...ypage.tpl.html

At the end of one video you see Ted Hitting with his right arm only.

But you can easily do it yourself:
IMO, the main benefit of doing this is that it clearly shows the importance of keeping the right forearm on plane (behind the shaft - always set in a pushing condition).
You may find it difficult at first but you will learn a lot about your motion and what you should do.

HOWTO:
  • set up with your right forearm flying wedge at impact fix,
  • freeze your wrist angles,
  • just go back and forth in a piston like motion,
  • learn to straighten your right arm without flattening your right wrist and destroy the ground.

Start with Basic Motion fisrt

Bending the shaft with the hands, arms, pivot and ball
First, without pivoting, I bend the shaft (backward) by pushing the grip with the right hand and right arm against the left hand and left arm with the clubhead against something stationary.

Then, for "Hitting", after Right-Forearm Pickup and Shoulder Rotation to the Top, I, again, keep rotating the Pivot backward while bending the Shaft against the Clubhead "Lag" as decribed above, and intend to bend it further with the Ball or Impact.

YOU load and sustain the "LAG", during which the "LAW" releases it, ideally beyond impact.
"Sustain (Yang/陽) the lag (Yin/陰)" is "the unification of Ying and Yang" (陰陽合一).
The "LAW" creates the "effect", which is the "motion" or "feel", with the "cause", which is the "intent" or "command".
"Lag" is the secret of golf, passion is the secret of life.
Think as a golfer, execute like a robot.
Rotate, twist, spin, turn.
Bend the shaft.
