Reporting in from Kingsmill
Just got back from the grounds at Kingsmill and it should be quite a tourney for the ladies this week. The course is in solid shape, greens are true and the wind was up.

Makes that 18th one heck of a finish, dead into the wind on an already tough hole.

Swings to watch for:

Katherine Hull

A motion Hogan would be proud of.

I enjoyed watching Morgan Pressel. A very nice swing, she just needs to keep an eye on her tempo. Consistent and gets a lot out of it for her size, as does Jenna Daniels

Nicole Perrot has a nice move.

Kerr gets decent compression but can't hit it very far (at only 5'3)

Leta Lindly would have one of the best swings out there if she just knew about extensor action! She packs a good wollop for her size.

Not as much compression out on the range as I would have expected though. A lot of players that 'pick' the ball.

It was a real treat to see Annika. Very small crowds at the range after her round.

As for Daniel Aimee (sp?) - the Big Break - is BIG throw away. It's too bad because she's got a decent move otherwise. Dean Reinmuth was out trying to help her (she was hitting all partial swings fat) and I didn't see any improvement. I managed to get in a 'flat left wrist' comment as they walked by, but man she's got a BIG cup at the top and I'd guess she won't break 80 or make the cut with how she was swinging and putting.

Some interesting moves out on the LPGA, but some outstanding RHYTHM to be sure!

Re BIG cup
Good observation as usual, EdZ. Danielle does indeed have a BIG cup.
Study 38-DD. Hope she makes the cut. Have a good one, pshr

edZ, did you notice how strong her grip was?

I don't expect she will make the cut unless she has had some good coaching, I think her mental approach needs more work than her actual mechanics.

What was Daniel wearing. That is more important.

I'd said it before, even here, that i think a lot of women could hit the ball further if they learned how to hold the lag and hit down more.

Most of the women i see they all have some sort of clubhead throwaway/early release/bent left wrist going on. We all know how this effects ball compression, ball speed, and distance.

It you watch some of the longer hitters on the woman tour they all have much better flat left wrists, hold the lag longer, and don't throw it away as bad.

Its no coincidence that the ones that do the above really well (like Wie, Sorenstam, Park, Davies to name a few) all hit the ball pretty long.

----

Also i was looking at my golf videos that i have saved on my computer at home and i have a good one of annika and she has a boat load of float load Granted she isn't the longest but i truly think she doesn't swing as fast as she could.

Back in from another day at Kingsmill......

After watching Katherine Hull at the range, I decided to follow her for the morning round. Not so impressive today. Her tempo was off ALL day long and from what I saw she really only hit 3-4 shots at her best.

I must say, I was quite impressed with Jamie Hullet. She must only be about 100 pounds, but she held her own all day. A wonderful 'swing' - very CF driven.

She hit nearly every fairway, and basically every green, hitting her 'spots' very well .......but her putting is what got her today, and every day (126th). Hit mostly good putts, just nothing dropped. She has to watch her tempo and routine closely though. She threw strokes away getting quick - but other than a couple minor mistakes, she really was solid today. Tons of potential there if she can stop 'hitting' her putts and start 'stroking' them - and keep her head in the game with a few mental 'keys' She's been sick most of the year, finally feeling better.

Followed Paula Creamer for a while too - GREAT swing, with decent compression, much better than most out there who need to learn how to take some divots! Creamer reallly loads on the downswing, a sight to see! Leta Lindley was playing with Creamer, and played quite well today. She smoothed out her motion nicely from yesterday.

Finally, caught Pressel a bit - an outstanding approach to 18, best of the day I'd bet. She has a very solid move, no holding back at all, and really gets a great deal of power for her size.

I'm headed over for the morning round Friday, but I'll miss the weekend unfortunately. Going up to NY.
