My warm up session before a round always starts with basic motion, going on to aquired motion and longer and longer hits with my pitching wedge, concentrating on delivery line and lag pressure. This gives me a good feel for lag pressure and tempo. I suggest you try the same. Before I had a tendency to go to the end instead of top, and then throw the lag away too early.
