I've had a bruised forehead of my own from all of the ah-ha moments. This applies the same to Hinge Action: Horizontal Hinging and Vertical Hinging are extremes. Angled Hinging is anything in-between. It also applies to Planes: Horizontal Planes and Vertical Planes are the extremes.
