I got in the habit a long time ago and have done it ever since. it going to be a hard fix im sure but i have not set my mind to it yet. my main focus has been plane for the last couple of years and that has been on the backburner. as an examle in John's latest video the club works up nicely. Should i try to emulate this.
Practice slow motion backswings with your back against a wall (or a foot or so away). This will help give you the feel of the hands being 'under' the shaft, and the clubhead staying more in front of you, outside your hands until hip high. A bit more bent at the hips may also be helpful to you.

i will do the wall trick, i have done this before but the feeling i have had with this is the right wrist staying ontop of the left wrist. as for the plane as i have understud the plane needs to start up the plane of the shaft to hip high then up a slightly steeper plane through the shoulders onto the turned shoulder plane. the way John takes the club back is very similar to this and i have been wondering if i should try to emulate this of a slightly different model. any help has been greatly appreciated and i would love to have more input from others.
here is 2 new vids of where i think everyone is trying to get me to. let me know if this is what everyone is talking about
That is certainly the idea I had grapegoat, looks good.

The reason you can't sustain the lag is because you are so eager to make the club move fast (a reaction to the intent of "hitting it far"). So on a full shot you throw it away too early, which doesn't happen for your short chip. (bts)
What is the idea with watching the clubhead on the way back?
Seen a few people on TGM forums do this, but never seen anyone outside TGM do it?
It was look, look, look that got me doing this and its been a lot of work to get rid of it (still ongoing). The trouble is it can lead to swaying if taken too far. Like any habbit to take it away you have to replace it with something else. Eg: feeling of turning the head to the left on the backswing rather than the right.

Anyone else had any experience of curing this.
Yes,something similar.
I turn my head in an attempt to make a "full" turn.
This "full" turn is actually too much, turning as far as I can with a stationary head, eyes on the ball, is plenty.
