I don't even OWN a 3 iron. How about getting a hybrid? Better yet, why not let me fit you for one when you see Lynn?
In the meantime, try to hit full shots at 1/2 your normal distance then gradually increase to 3/4 then full. Once you slip into a rut go back to 1/2 distance and proceed again.
To clarify, this means that if your 7 iron normally goes 160, then try taking full swings to an 80 yard flag and still feel compression.

Keep step with the times Big D
You still swinging a Tony Pena persimmon? Gotta axe the butter knives and get you some...hybrids. Unless you are like Nick Price who says he hits hybrids too straight I have sonartec hybrids to replace my 2, 3 & 4 irons...makes the bag a bit crowded but I dig them. I think they are far more versatile than people think. I hit my 2 iron hybrid further off the tee than my 2iron.
As for basic motion etc. I do it around the practice chipping green. I don't have the heart to hit basic motion shots 20 feet on a range so I do the chip and pitch deal around the chipping green. On the range I start with acquired motion and move on from there. I cap most sessions off with a half hour on the putting green.

You are practicing for a lesson? Further ingraining crappy habits . . . how about practicing AFTER the lesson . . .
Do you do this same sort of deal before you and the ole lady head out for a romantic weekend? Do you do "basic motion" to prepare for that?

Thanks. I'll go that route.
And I'll take you up on getting fitted. 2 hybrids and a 3 wood. Maybe a putter too. I'm getting tired of the Scotty Cameron thing. Since I've been using a Hitting Stroke on the Greens, I think maybe something heavier with a larger Yoda size grip. It seems to make more sense.

Hogan Blades. Tapered Rifle Project X shafts 2-E, SST pured. And Zodia Wedges, of course with custom grind.

I'm not ingraining crappy habits. I just need the fastest way to get the Swing Back. I prefer that the lesson be a POLISHING session. No grinding needed.

Best way to get it back is to GO PLAY GOLF. Play 9 holes or whatever and hit a bunch of golf shots.

True. But is 20 degrees and courses are closed. The best I can do is inside a dome.

Ouch. If it's 2o degrees there . . . why would a man vacation in Jackson's Hole? Dude you are a glutton for punishment . . . or a glutton for something.
Here's what you need to do . . . buy a net . . . a mat . . . a basement . . . a camera . . . figure out what your most glaring wobble is . . . fix it.
Net work in doors that is monitored with video can really improve your motion.
