Amazing Players

Probably the most amazing tour player I have seen play is Mr. Charlie Owens. He was injured in the service, and went on to play the tour, and Senior Tour.

Charlie plays CROSS-HANDED, he is BLIND in one eye, and one of his knees is FUSED. He uses his club as a cane to walk up to the ball, then unleashes on the ball, and strikes some very, very nice golf shots. He won two Senior Tour events.

Amazing!!

He also is probably one of the first players to use a long putter, if not the first. I believe he invented the model he used/uses.

I believe my information is correct, if not maybe someone can chime in.

I could not find any current information on Mr. Owens.

Charles Owens was an outstanding African American golfer who last competed on the now Champions Tour in 1998. He played his best golf long before today's inflated purses, but his official money of $710,167 is still good for 165th place on the Champions Tour All Time Money Leaders list. He was runner-up in the 1985 Senior Tournament Players Championship, and in 1986 had his best year with two victories and official money of $207,813. He played sparingly after 1994.
